What Is An Apprentice ?

The apprentice will typically undertake a programme of study through the employer, usually between 12-18 months enabling them to gain experience at their place of work. They will also can attend off job training programmes provided by a training provider to develop their knowledge of the field.
Apprentices identify themselves as persons that are undergoing a journey becoming confident and knowledgeable within their career paths. They are hoping to progress and have continuity towards becoming competent and are recognised for their hard-working efforts.
Lucas, B. Spencer E. (2013) explain the main reasons that apprentices pursue apprenticeships: to improve skills and knowledge, find good salaried jobs, further training opportunities and career progression.
The government are looking for ways to promote apprenticeships and addressing the skills gap providing opportunities for everyone to succeed no matter the industry of choice.
