The apprenticeship journey is unique and forms part of their stories when exploring their experiences. Apprentices described their pathway as a success and therefore their behaviour has been adapted towards meeting the demands of the working world.
These different views about apprenticeships has lead to the following
Learning is situated, and the context is extremely important.
Learning does not just happen, the learners need to engage and communicate their needs
The quality of apprenticeships will differ.
Speaking with candidates about their reasons for pursing apprenticeships. I found this was related to obtaining experience and willingness to learn. Their career aspirations are to progress into job roles that are relevant to knowledge and skills developed within their apprenticeship that will lead towards Management and Field Work opportunities.
Employers are aware that candidates may not have knowledge and experience relevant to the job occupation their expectations were that apprentices were able to adapt and accept challenges they are encouraged to support individual requirements.
